How our Personal VPN works

How It Works

How do we accomplish this?
Via a VPN tunnel which is an ultra-secure, highly encrypted connection between two computers. The secure tunnel is used to send all of your data, encrypted, through the local hotspot. This is the same high-grade encryption that banks and credit card companies use to process transactions. You no longer have to worry about anyone reading your email, watching were you go or picking up your passwords.

How does a personal VPN tunnel work?
A VPN tunnel works by "wrapping" the data that goes from your computer in a shielded bubble and sending it to a remote server outside of the open network you are in. This allows you to send data in total privacy even on networks with thousands of users and having no encryption. See the Diagram below for more information.

Our Servers:
Our servers are provided by Amazon Web Services in one of the largest data centers in the world. They are extremely reliable and fault tolerant. All of your data travels encrypted from your computer directly to the servers at Amazon. From there is is forwarded to it's final destination. Nobody, including us, can see your data on the secure connection. Our free software uses Open VPN, a time tested and secure open source VPN client.

Each user on the network, connected through the red line (or an un-encrypted connection), can directly connect to other red users. However, since you are connected with a blue connection (the tunnel) you completely bypass the red network by connecting straight to our secure servers. Conversely, the red users skip our server and go straight to the internet, completely unprotected.
