SurfBouncer offers a choice of personal VPN servers that can terminate in the United States, Canada, Europe, Central America or Asia. Unlike other companies, we do not charge a premium for our various server locations. While the default SurfBouncer configuration is set up to terminate your connection in the USA, by picking your configuration from the login menu, you can easily switch to the other servers, and back, whenever you desire.
The Canadian servers allow access to any web site in the world with an IP address originating in Canada.
Ideal for those in Canada who want to secure their internet connection at public hotspots while maintaining an IP address in Canada as well as for Canadians working outside of Canada who can use these servers to obtain a 'back home' IP address for both business and social needs.
Note: Our latest Windows and Mac installer includes this connection. If you have an older version we recommend upgrading your software. This will give you all the latest connection options and the latest version of the OpenVPN software.
If you want to add this connection manually to your existing software follow the steps below.
Windows Users:
1) Download the Canada server configurations here.
(you must right click on the link and 'save link as')
2) Save to the directory below that corresponds to your installation:
For users of the Windows 32 (XP) version of SurfBouncer, the location of the config directory is
C:\Program Files\SurfBouncer OpenVPN\config
If using the Vista or Windows 7, 32 bit version of SurfBouncer, the location is
C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config
For users of the Vista or Windows 7, 64 bit version of SurfBouncer, the location is
C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenVPN\config
The new connection option 'SB_Canada' will appear in the system tray GUI. You may need to exit and restart for it to appear.
Mac Users:
1) Download the Canadian server configurations here
(you must right click on the link and 'save link as')
2) For Tunnelblick users of the beta versions prior to March 3, 2010, download the file and place in your home directory, Library/Openvpn folder.
For Tunnelblick version 3.0 or greater, download the file and place in your home directory, Library/Application/Support/Tunnelblick/Configurations folder.
In some cases, the Mac will save the file with a '.txt' extension. Remove the '.txt' and replace with '.ovpn'. After copying the files, exit Tunnelblick and restart it. It may require your Mac password before allowing for the VPN login to appear.
Where poor line conditions or blocking make the use of the default UDP connection slow or impossible, switch to TCP. The TCP VPN file for Canada is here. Install it in the same manner as shown above.
Linux users - Use the Mac config files listed above.
