NOTE: These instructions are for older versions of Tunnelblick. For instructions on the most recent version please see this page:
After ordering the SurfBouncer service, set up your Mac with the software and configurations:
Click here to DOWNLOAD Surf Bouncer for Mac 32 and 64 bit. Do not drag it into Applications and install it yet.
This software is provided by the Mac Open VPN GUI site Tunnelblick.
Note: If you are using Snow Leopard in 64 bit mode, the Tunnelblick client will not work in versions below 24. If you are using an older version of Tunnelblick, please re-install the version linked above for 32 and 64 bit access.
Create a folder called 'openvpn' in your home directory, 'Library' as shown in the image below.
Place the configuration files in the openvpn folder that you just created.
Download the configuration files listed under Linux in the email we sent you after you subscribed
Sometimes, the Mac will save the configuration files that end with '.ovpn' as '.txt' files. As an example, you might see the file name 'surfbouncer.ovpn.txt' instead of 'surfbouncer.ovpn'. If this occurs, please re-name the files that have '.ovpn' in their name to end in this extension. In the previous example, 'surfbouncer.ovpn.txt' should be renamed to 'surfbouncer.ovpn' in order to properly function.
Drag the Tunnelblick download into Applications to install. Launch Tunnelblick. It will read the configuration files from the openvpn folder, and you can then point and click on the SurfBouncer connection options to connect.
Be sure to click on 'Details', and check the 'Set name server' box. Otherwise, you will not have DNS services. You won't be able to connect to anything by name without it. So this is very important.
Please see this Tunnelblick installation help page for more screen shots of the install process.
We are setting up your information on our servers. You will receive an email within a few hours (or sooner) with your SurfBouncer user name and password. Please be patient. Many times it takes a few hours for the transaction to clear the credit card processor, especially for overseas orders. Also, due to constant attempts to use fraudulent credit cards to get on the VPN, we manually verify each order.
Note: Orders are processed between 6:00 AM to Midnight (6:00 and 24:00 hours) US Pacific time (GMT - 8) . If you are ordering during the hours which our order processing department is closed, rest assured that your order will be processed first thing in the morning.
Upon starting a new connection in Tunnelblick, it will prompt you for your Mac user name. If you see this screen, enter your Mac user name and password:
If you see this screen, enter your SurfBouncer user name and password:
After installation and launching Tunnelblick, you will see the four default connection options.
'SurfBouncer' - This option will connect you to our main USA servers and is the default for those wanting a USA IP address.
'SurfBouncer EU' - Using this option will connect you to our servers in the UK and provide a UK IP address.
'SB Video' - This is also a USA IP connection optimized for video sites like Hulu.
'SurfBouncer TCP 443' - Uses the TCP protocol to bypass some firewall blocks. If you can't connect with the above use this.
You can add connection options for servers in Ireland and Canada as well as our High Encryption VPN 256 bit AES servers. Additional TCP options are also available. We have additional connection options and VPN servers for special circumstances. If you are having a problem connecting, email us.
If you have any questions regarding setting up Tunnelblick, unblocking web sites or connecting, please see the troubleshooting page or email us at email@example.com.
